2023 LS Merchants Sunrider
Tasting Notes
Pairs well with
Predominantly Riesling blended with Gewurtztraminer, Pinot Gris and Vermentino from Western Australia, 12.3% ABV.
An Alsatian-inspired blend with the twist! Super aromatic on the nose with peach, musk, citrus and pear. Light-to-medium bodied, stone fruit, ripe melon with wonderful saline acidity. Layered flavours and complexity, making you reach for a second and third glass.
LS Merchant "was born out of experiment, boredom and a want for more from Margaret River" - Chief Winemaker Dylan Ardvidson
Dylan moved to Western Australia in 2009 and was Assistant Winemaker under legendary winemaker Mark Messenger from Juniper Estate for six years. In 2015, he became head winemaker at Cape Grace Wines, the same year he ‘accidentally’ started LS Merchants. LS was only meant to be for friends - moonlighting as a DJ, Dylan wanted to make easy-going wines for his gigs which he lovingly calls ‘duff duff parties’, a.k.a raves. Encouraged by a growing following across Australia, he went full time in 2020.
LS Merchants is now run by Dylan and his wife Taryn. Their goal is to challenges traditional winemaking to produce unique and stimulating wines from both well and lesser known varieties. They believe good wine comes from great fruit and therefore are committed to sustainable farming in their own vineyard and sourcing high-quality fruit from likeminded growers who share their passion for the environment and the varieties they cultivate.
